"MAMA EARTH" - SAMYAK YAMAUCHI
I love painting.   I love color, stories, magic, and finding the spirit in everything.  Painting allows me to honor all the things I love, in a way that's both fun and exciting, deep and meaningful.  Painting is the perfect partner for the authentic me that lives deep inside and far beyond the me that is "Sam".

Here's a photo of me with my "other" partner...taking in one of the bazillion events that happen at the People's Art Gallery in Portland.  He's the one who photographs my work, builds my frames, hauls my too heavy things, and supports every mintue of the time I spend with my painting. If it wasn't for his generous spirit, it'd be much more challenging for me to develop and grow my artist vision.

Now, back to why I love painting....

I love painting because, cool paintings happen....unusual beings appear in rich and fertile places, eager to play with my mind, heart and soul - like this one about friendship and partnership in past and present lives.

In the coming weeks, I am going to be exploring the importance of "partnership" in my painting. I'm going to be trying some new techniques to connect with my creative energy and with the spirit on my boards and canvases - techniques involving breath-work, movement and intention.  I foresee some exciting and inspiring painting sessions in my future.
